Option 2:  After reading this story, how would you define bravery?

  1. I would define bravery as something you don’t want to do, but you still do. I think it means you have the courage to do something even if you could get in trouble or hurt. Being brave isn’t be strong, it is being able to do the thing you want to do.

  2. I would define bravery as doing whatever it takes even if there is a consequence for your actions.

  3. I would define bravery as doing what you know you need to do even if you don’t want to do it. Genie and Ernie show bravery several times throughout the book. Ernie shows bravery by trying out the gun even when he doesn’t want too. He is even brave afterwards when he has to get his teeth pressed back into his mouth. Genie shows bravery by confessing that he killed Michael Jackson.

  4. I would define bravery as something you do even if you are scared of what will happen in the end. Ernie showed bravery by shooting a gun even though he didn’t want to, because his grandpa on his 14th birthday said to him “to become a man, you have to learn to shoot a gun”. I thought that this was a act of bravery that Ernie showed us.

  5. After reading this book, I would define bravery as going out of your comfort zone to help someone else. Also, fixing your mistakes and telling someone you are sorry even if you don’t want to admit you did it. When Genie accidentally killed the bird Michael Jackson, he didn’t want to admit to his grandfather that he did it. When he was brave enough to admit it though, he learned that it was better to tell the truth. Brave could also be defined as making the right choices.

  6. I would define bravery as doing things that you don’t want to to. Ernie showed bravery by shooting the gun even though he didn’t and he ended up getting hurt. But afterwards He felt braver and stood a little taller than he did before.
