6th Graders are dividing fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers in class. While 6th Graders might remember to “keep, change, flip” in order to divide fractions, a mathematician would say “multiply by the reciprocal.” To help model reciprocals, we had some student help!

We had a lot of “math doctors” roaming the 6th grade halls yesterday. We took a quiz on Order of Operations and we did our best to be sure to evaluate the expressions following the correct order…just as doctors, mechanics, and everyone, including 6th graders (brushing teeth, following class schedule, putting on football pads), have to do things in a certain order!
