I loved this book! I first watched the movie and fell in love with the storyline, so I picked up the book. I love the book wayyyy more than the movie. The whole storyline goes way more into details and the emotions behind the actions that Grace takes. I also loved the interactions between Grace and Rocky a lot better in the book. Overall, I would rate this book a 4/5 stars and would definitely recommend.

I really liked this book. I’m not sure how much of my enjoyment was swayed by my picturing of Rocky as a Space Crab throughout the book. I really enjoyed that Dr. Grace sacrificied a chance to be famous for a chance to save two civilizations. I would reccomend this book to others.

I heard about this book through my English class and decided to read it on my own. Overall, I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would because it is a long story, but an amazing plot. I enjoy watching sci-fi movies, but I have never read many sci-fi books before. Even from the beginning, with Ryland Grace, a science teacher turning into an astronaut, really grabs your attention and sets up the story so well with many unexpected parts throughout the book. I would recommend this book to those wanting a nice, fast-paced sci-fi thriller.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!!! I will probably be begging my parents so we can see the movie adaptation with Ryan Gosling. I now own my own copy, and I have also gotten The Martian by the same author. Rocky is such a vibe. I love sci-fi; it is one of my favorite genres, and I really enjoyed all of the sciency bits.

I really enjoyed this book! I was a little hesitant at the start because I have never been a huge fan of sci-fi books, but this one was a lot better than ones I have read in the past. I think the plot was amazing, and relatively easy to follow for the most part. When it got to the more science-y parts, I was a bit confused and struggled to follow along, but not understanding an occasional part here or there had no overall impact on my understanding of the story. I loved how the flashbacks of Dr. Grace were incorporated throughout, I feel like that added a lot of depth to the story. I also loved Rocky, he was such a well written character. Overall, I loved this book!

I finished reading this book for my English class, and I loved it just as much. I flew through this book in 3 sittings, and I just loved the characters in this book so much. This book is so surprisingly wholesome and gives me all the warm fuzzy feelings; it’s the best.

With this being one of my first books into si-fi, I really had no idea what to expect. The beginning was rough, trying to understand that its going from past to present. Even with Rocky coming in, the story was picking up. There wasn’t really any plot twist but the ending was bitter sweet. I was happy and sad all at once. Will be watching the movie and waiting to see how Ryan Gosling plays Ryland Grace

I recognized this author from “The Martian”. I’m not the biggest fan of sci-fi; I find it a bit far-fetched, no matter how realistic it seems. However, I enjoyed this book. It was fairly fast-paced, and the dialogue was quick and nice. I liked Rocky and his whole dynamic with Ryland. My least favorite part of every book is the beginning. Sometimes it takes me an embarrassing amount of time to get past the first chapter. But in this case, the start was pretty action-filled with our amnesiac main character on a random spaceship with an annoying robotic voice asking him math questions. In the end, I would honestly recommend this book; it’s not a heavy sci-fi book, and it’s pretty entertaining.

Incredible. Truly incredible. The worldbuilding in the story started slow, but it ultimately paid off thanks to the talent of writer Andy Weir, who skillfully aligned it with the character development. The plot follows an amazing scientist who challenges himself alongside his alien companion. Toward the end, the story forces the main character, initially portrayed as a coward, to turn around and save his companion and world, ultimately sacrificing himself. This transformation highlights how much Ryland Grace has grown throughout the story.

Overall, I thought that this is an excellent book. I liked how they had Dr. grace finish the story teaching again. Additionally, I liked how we learned about the situation as Dr. Grace remembers it. However, all the nations agreeing to give one person basically unlimited power to solve the crisis is a little unrealistic.
